About Us
Who are Chatrice and Luis?
Hey y’all! We are Chatrice and Luis. We are two people who came into each other’s lives when one of us (Chatrice) posted on social media about going to a live recording of a podcast. Luis shyly replied, the two went on this trip, and the rest is herstory. Check out the Origin Story episode (Episode 0) for how we both remember meeting.
What is Courting in Color?
Courting in Color centers the dating and relationship stories, tales, and woes of people of color and their various intersecting identities.
How did Courting in Color come to be?
Courting in Color came to be, most likely, on a long drive to escape the lull of rural life. Or, it was probably a weekend get-away where we wanted to relax and find some fun along the way. We joke…kind of. It came to be, truly, because of friendship and a love of podcasts.
As with most friendships, we quickly realized how similar we both were. As we chatted about our joys and woes of relationships and dating we wondered if other people of color had similar experiences. So, Courting in Color was born out of this wonder and thought. With little to no space in the podcast realm about people of color dating experiences, our podcast wants to create this space.
What can you expect from Courting in Color?
Well, a lot of laughs for one. Great conversation and story telling, secondly. Truthfully, we are not experts - so our advice is unofficial. Our thoughts are that hey, maybe there are people out there who will listen to us. Also, our thought is this podcast is for us and by us. We want to have open conversations around dating as people of color. It’s interactive, too! We want your tales and advice. You all are important to us!

Every star has their fan base. We are the stars. Every fan base has a name. You all are the fan base. Therefore, by the power of our Court, we hereby dub you all Courting Cuties. DJ, cue the fanfare.
